Senior Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) scored 16 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball team to an 84-70 victory over SUNY Oswego Friday in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament at Oswego. The Golden Eagles advance to the championship game and will face SUNY Fredonia at 4 pm Saturday in Oswego. Fredonia nipped SUNY Cortland in the other semifinal game.

Brockport (13-14 overall), the eighth seed in the tournament, led 41-35 at the half and maintained that lead for most of the second half. With seven minutes left, Brockport held a four-point lead at 58-54 but scored the next eight points to take a 12-point advantage. Oswego cut the lead to six points with 3:01 to play before Brockport went on another 8-0 run to regain the double-digit lead and cruised to the victory.

Wilkes continued his hot shooting with 21 points as he has averaged over 20 points per game over the final five games of the season. Shawn Harris (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) added 14 points and Joe Clarke (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) chipped in 10 points while Eamon Kays (Mexico, NY/Mexico) added 11 points off the bench. Wilkes also led the way with eight rebounds and five steals.

The Golden Eagles have defeated Fredonia twice this season, the first coming at Fredonia by 19 points, and then by 20 points at home later in the season. Fredonia is the #5 seed in the tournament.
