Men’s Lacrosse Drops 14-6 Decision to St. John Fisher

Senior Joe Gomez (Amherst, NY/Amherst) scored twice, including a goal early in the second quarter that tied the game at 2-2, for The College at Brockport Men’s Lacrosse team against St. John Fisher College but the Cardinals scored seven of the next eight goals to take control of the game and won a 14-6 decision over the Golden Eagles Saturday at Gowney Stadium in Pittsford.

Junior Adam Drypolcher (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) added a goal and an assist for Brockport (0-2) His goal came with 6:23 left in the third quarter and stopped a streak of six straight goals for the Cardinals (7-0).

Sophomore Matt Andon-McLane (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) opened the scoring for Brockport after St. John Fisher had scored the first two goals of the game. Andon-McLane’s goal cut the lead to 2-1 late in the first quarter. Gomez netted his first goal four minutes into the second quarter to knot the score at 2-2. Fisher took a 3-2 lead three minutes later but sophomore Mike Sanderson (Canton, NY/HC Williams) scored less than a minute later to tie the game again at 3-3.

St. John Fisher scored twice in the final minutes of the first half to take a 5-3 lead into the halftime intermission.

Sophomore Mike Tammaro (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) scored with 8:46 to play in the contest and also added an assist for the Golden Eagles.
