Senior Steve Abgarian (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) scored five goals and finished with 10 points to tie two school records as The College at Brockport Men’s Soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 7-0 victory over Cazenovia College Wednesday night at Brockport High School.

Abgarian scored three times in the first half including the first goal of the game five minutes into the contest. The senior added the first two goals of the second half as the Golden Eagles (1-0) took a commanding 5-0 lead. Brockport added two late goals with freshmen Adam Rowell (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Robert Rua (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) scoring in an 18-second span with less than two minutes remaining in the contest.

Abgarian tied the school records for goals and points in a game set in 2002 by Anthony Jaworski in an 8-2 victory over SUNYIT.

Junior Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) made three saves to record his first shutout with the Golden Eagles after transferring to Brockport from Roberts Wesleyan College.
