The College at Brockport Men’s Soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as Hobart College, ranked #10 in the country, scored a 2-0 victory over Brockport Saturday in Geneva, NY.

Hobart (4-0) scored to take a 1-0 lead early in the contest with a header that beat Brockport goalie Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) with less than six minutes gone in the first half. The score remained 1-0 until late in the game when the Statesmen added a second goal with just over two minutes to play in the second half.

Brockport (2-1-1) had a couple good chances to tie the score late in the second half as a header by Nick Yager (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) off a corner kick missed wide of the goal with less than 15 minutes to play in the game. With 10 minutes to play, a shot by Christian Tychostup (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) missed the crossbar and sailed just over the net. With less than five minutes remaining, consecutive shots by Brad Lefort (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (wide of the goal) and Mike Breman (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) (blocked by defense) were off the mark.

Marino finished with six saves in the game as Brockport was outshot 18-7 in the contest.
