Seniors Brad Lefort (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) and Steve Abgarian (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) each scored goals and freshman Marc Orlando (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) notched his first career goal to lead The College at Brockport Men’s Soccer team to a 3-0 victory over SUNY New Paltz in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Friday afternoon in New Paltz.

Brockport (4-3-2 overall, 2-1 SUNYAC) opened the scoring in the first seven minutes of the contest as Abgarian took a through pass from Lefort and beat the New Paltz (4-4-1, 0-3) goalie to the right to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

The lead remained 1-0 through the first half and midway through the second, until Abgarian took a long shot that was saved but unable to be controlled by the New Paltz goalie. Orlando knocked in the loose ball for the first goal of his career, giving Brockport a 2-0 lead with 23 minutes to play in regulation.

As time was running out, junior Doug DiSanti (Dix Hills, NY/St. John the Baptist) sent a long pass to the foot of Lefort who scored with just two seconds remaining in the game.

Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) made nine saves to notch his third shutout of the season. It was the fifth shutout for the Golden Eagles, who have not allowed a goal in more than two games, spanning 195 minutes of action.
