Junior Mike Breman (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) scored his first career goal for The College at Brockport Men’s Soccer team as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and held on for a 2-1 victory over SUNY Cortland in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday night in Cortland.

Sophomore Troy Parker (Watertown, NY/Watertown) scored 10 minutes into the game after a pair of quick passes from Marc Orlando (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and Steve Abgarian (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) to give the Golden Eagles (7-4-2 overall, 5-2 SUNYAC) a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Breman picked up a loose ball 20-yards out and sent a one-timer past the Cortland (4-8-2, 3-3-1) goalie for the 2-0 lead.

The score remained 2-0 until midway through the second half when Cortland broke up the shutout on a shot from beyond 20 yards to cut the lead to a goal at 2-1.

Brockport held on late to preserve the victory.

Junior goalie Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) was credited with one save for the win – his sixth of the season.
