Huntley Parker Jr. Field in Brockport.
Brockport (9-4-2 overall, 7-2 SUNYAC) had sealed at least a #2 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament prior to the game and ended up finishing second to SUNY Plattsburgh as the Cardinals posted a 5-0 win over SUNY Potsdam in their conference finale.
The Golden Eagles will receive a first-round bye in the tournament and will play a semifinal game on Friday, November 6, in Plattsburgh. The SUNYAC Championship game will be the following day in Plattsburgh.
Against Buffalo State (7-9-1, 3-5-1), Brockport struck first 25 minutes into the game as Abgarian controlled a long pass from Jeff Palumbo (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) that came from near midfield. From the top of the 18-yard box, Abgarian turned to his right and fired a shot into the right side of the goal to give Brockport the early lead.
Ten minutes later, the Bengals tied the score with a header off a crossing pass from the corner and the game remained tied for the remainder of the first half.
Early in the second half, junior Doug DiSanti (Dix Hills, NY/St. John the Baptist) sent a forwarding pass into the box to Jamey Crumb (McGraw, NY/McGraw), who redirected the ball to Lefort for the easy shot from six yards out. The goal gave Brockport a 2-1 lead and ended up being Lefort’s third game-winning goal of the season.
Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) collected six saves to earn the victory for the Golden Eagles.
