Men’s Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at Ithaca
Chris Auth scores his first goal of the season for the Golden Eagles
October 27, 2009
Junior Chris Auth (East Patchouge, NY/Bellport) scored for the first time this season in the second half for The College at Brockport Men’s Soccer team but Ithaca College scored once in each half and posted a 2-1 victory Tuesday in a non-conference match at Ithaca that ended the regular season for the Golden Eagles. Brockport will now prepare for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament semifinals, which begin on Friday, November 6, at Plattsburgh.

Ithaca (6-6-3) took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the contest as a defensive breakdown allowed the Ithaca forward to have an uncontested header from inside the goalie box. The score remained 1-0 for the remainder of the first half.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Bombers took a 2-0 advantage with another successful crossing pass into the Brockport (9-4-2) box.

Four minutes later Auth closed the gap to 2-1 as he knocked in a loose ball after Jeff Palumbo (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) sent a crossing pass to the front of the Ithaca goal.

Junior Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) made three saves and allowed one goal playing the first half while Kyle Sauln (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) played the final 45 minutes and was credited with one save.
