Men’s Soccer Places Four on All-SUNYAC Team

Senior Steve Abgarian (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) along with juniors Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) and Michael Breman (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) were selected as members of the First-Team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) squad as released by the conference office Thursday. Senior Brad LeFort (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) earned All-SUNYAC honors as a Second-Team selection.

Abgarian led the team with 11 goals, four assists and 26 points and also had four game-winning goals. He led Brockport to a 9-5-2 record through the regular season, including seven wins in the final nine games of the regular season and a No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.

Marino started 14 games in the Brockport goal and allowed just 13 goals for a 0.94 goals-against average and five shutout victories. Marino even scored one goal on a long punt and also recorded an assist. Breman was the top defender on the team that surrendered just 14 goals in the 16-game regular season.

LeFort finished second on the team with four goals and three assists for 11 points and also contributed three game-winning goals.

Brockport finished the regular season with a 9-5-2 record and streak of over three games during the middle of the season which it did not allow a goal.
