Bridget Mayne Qualifies for Nationals for Track & Field
Eight Golden Eagles earn spots at the ECAC Championships April 11, 2009
 Bridget Mayne qualifies for Nationals in the hammer(credit: Mark Krueger) Senior Bridget Mayne (Schoharie, NY/Schoharie) finished second in the hammer throw with a 46.60-meter toss which earned her a provisional spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships to lead The College at Brockport Track & Field teams at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon. Additional members of the teams competed at the Bucknell University Invitational in Pennsylvania Friday night.
Overall for the two events, eight Golden Eagles reached Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship meet standards in their events.
At Bucknell, sophomore Brittany Streeter (Oneida, NY/Oneida) ran a 11:22.70 time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to earn a spot in the championships while fellow sophomore distance runner Caitlin McAneney (Hornell, NY/Hornell) earned ECAC standards in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:29.72.
At Roberts Wesleyan, four Golden Eagles finished first in their events led by Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) winning the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 12.70 seconds. Shannon O’Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) won the triple jump (11.23 meters), Amanda Elias (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) won the 400-meter dash (59.33 seconds) and Rusty Landon (Ithaca, NY/Lansing) was the first-place finisher in the 400-meter hurdles (55.34 seconds) for Brockport.
Other ECAC qualifiers included Stacey Gibbons (Eden, NY/Eden) in the discus for the women and Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) in the discus for the men. Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) took second in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional toss of 52.28 meters. Gonzalez had already provisionally qualified in the event with a better throw in the first meet of the season.
