Three Hit NCAA Qualifying Marks for Track & Field
Kaitlin Breed earns provisional time in the 400-meter hurdles for the Golden Eagles
May 8, 2009
Freshman Kaitlin Breed (Manchester, NY/Manchester-Shortsville) ran a winning time of 1:03.47 in the 400-meter hurdles for The College at Brockport Track & Field squads at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational Friday in Meadville, PA, earning a provisional spot at the NCAA Championship meet in the event. Breed was one of three Golden Eagles to post NCAA provisional marks with Shannon O’Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) reaching the standard in the triple jump and Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) improving his standing in the performance list to seventh-best in the country in the hammer throw.

Breed, who has also earned NCAA provisional status in the high jump earlier this season, edged Deanna Dobos from Muskingum College in the first flight of the race with the remainder of the field nearly two seconds behind. O’Keeffe won the triple jump with her leap of 11.67 meters, which was an NCAA provisional standard but was not her best jump of the season. She remains among the top 15 triple jumpers in the country.

Gonzalez also qualified earlier this season in the hammer throw but improved his qualifying mark with his winning toss of 55.99 meters, which was more than two meters past the second place finisher and moved him into 7th place on the national performance list for the event.

Senior Doug Teed (Owego, NY/Newark Valley) earned a spot at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:40.37.
