Three Golden Eagles Headed to NCAA Championships
O’Keeffe, Gonzalez and Breed each qualify for National Championship Meet May 17, 2009
 Shannon O'Keeffe leads three Golden Eagles to NCAA Championships(credit: Jamie Germano) Seniors Shannon O’Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville Griffith) and Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) along with freshman Kaitlin Breed (Manchester, NY/Manchester-Shortsville) have each earned spots at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet that begins Thursday, May 21 and continues through Saturday, May 23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
O’Keeffe qualified in the triple jump with a leap of 11.78 meters (38’ 7 ¾”). Her qualifying distance is tied for 14th best in the country. The triple jump competition will take place at 11:30 am Saturday.
Breed qualified for two events with provisional qualifying standard marks in both the 400-meter hurdles and the high jump. The freshman qualified in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.47 and cleared a height of 1.65 meters (5’ 5”) in the high jump to earn a spot at the National Championship meet. The 400-meter hurdles will conduct the three heat races at 5:20 pm Thursday with the final contested at 3:25 pm Saturday. The high jump will take place at 2:30 pm Saturday.
Gonzalez is the highest ranking Golden Eagle in the competition and is seeded seventh in the hammer throw. Gonzalez qualified with a throw of 55.99 meters (183’ 8”) at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational May 8. The hammer throw is scheduled for 1 pm Thursday.
