Senior Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) wrapped up his collegiate career at The College at Brockport with his second All-America performance of his career with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw at the 2009 NCAA Division III Championship meet Thursday at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.

Gonzalez had six scoring throws all over 50 meters in distance but had his best effort on his second attempt with a heave of 53.53 meters (175’7”). The final throw of his career was nearly as far, traveling a distance of 53.22 meters. Gonzalez also earned All-America honors a year ago at the NCAA Championships with a seventh-place finish.

Also competing at the championship meet were freshman Kaitlin Breed (Manchester, NY/Manchester-Shortsville) in the high jump and the 400-meter hurdles and senior Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) in the triple jump.

Breed competed in preliminary round of the 400-meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 1:07.48 seconds but failed to qualify for the finals to be run Saturday. She also cleared the first height in the high jump competition but did not advance to the final round after failing to clear the second height. She cleared a height of 5'2-1/2".

In the triple jump, O'Keeffe had her best jump of the meet with a 36'7" leap but failed to advance to the final round of the championship, finishing eighth in the first flight of competitors.
