Junior Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) was named the 2008 United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Female Field Athlete of the Year at an awards ceremony prior to the start of the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Head coach Mark Krueger was also honored as the Atlantic Region Women’s Coach of the Year.

O’Keeffe enters the NCAA Championships tied at the top of the rankings in the triple jump after a 39’6˝” leap (12.05 meters), which was enough to win the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship in April. She was also the National Champion in the triple jump at the Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this year.

Krueger led the Golden Eagles to New York State Championships for both the men and women in 2008 and leads a group of six women and two men to the NCAA Championships in Wisconsin.
