Junior Britney Falcon (Victor, NY/Victor) and sophomore Pete Manktelow (Hornell, NY/Hornell) were recognized as the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award winners.
The 2008 outdoor season was another successful one for head coach Mark Krueger, who guided three more athletes to All-America honors at the NCAA Division III National Championships. For his successes, Krueger was named the Atlantic Region Women’s Coach of the Year and was also selected as the New York State Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.
O’Keeffe took second in the triple jump at Nationals, earning her second All-America honor this year, as she was a National Champion and All-American during the Indoor season. The junior jumper was also selected as the Atlantic Region Female Field Athlete of the Year. She earned four All-State honors by winning a State Championship in the triple jump, finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles, third in the long jump, and being on the winning 4x400 relay team.
Dupuis won his fifth All-America honor with a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 16.24-meters at the National Championships this past spring. He also won an ECAC Championship and a New York State Championship in the same event. The senior added another State Championship in the discus by winning that event with a throw of 47.60 meters. For his efforts, Dupuis was named the Field Athlete of the Meet at the State Championships.
As a team, the Golden Eagles placed 19 athletes on the Outdoor All-State Team and earlier had 10 named to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team. Both the Brockport men and women won team state titles and the women took second at the ECAC Championships, while the men took fourth. At the SUNYAC Championships, both the men and the women finished second as a team.
Junior Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was an All-American in the hammer throw, freshman Amanda Elias (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) won a State Championship in the 800-meter run and senior Chris Brhel (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) won a New York State Championship in the pole vault for the Golden Eagles. Freshman Kelsey Conn (Batavia, NY/Elba) was the only other Golden Eagle to qualify for the NCAA Championships, but just missed All-America status with her ninth-place finish.
