Former Golden Eagle Jesse Doty Finishes 13th at Olympic Trials
All-American and former assistant coach at Brockport misses chance to head to Olympic Games June 30, 2008
 Jesse Doty competed at the Olympic Trials on June 30 Jesse Doty, a 2003 All-American hammer thrower for The College at Brockport and an assistant coach with the Golden Eagles Track and Field teams, finished 13th in the preliminary competition for the hammer throw in Eugene, Oregon. Only the top 12 finishers in the preliminaries advance to the finals on July 4.
Doty had his best throw on his second attempt with a 67.42 meter (221 feet, 2 inches) heave after fouling on his first attempt. The throw put him in 11th position after the second of three throws in the preliminary competition. Two throwers moved past Doty on their final throw bumping him to 13th position and out of the Olympic Trials.
Doty is currently ranked 17th in the country and 99th in the world with his best throw of the year at 69.38 meters (227 feet 7 inches).
