Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) threw a six-hit shutout in The College at Brockport Softball team’s opening game of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader against SUNY Fredonia Tuesday afternoon at the Clark V. Whited Complex in Brockport. The Golden Eagles offense took over in the nightcap with Kim Gabor (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) sparking the team with a three-run home run to lead a 13-3 victory.

In game one, freshman Lindsay Trugman (Plainview, NY/Bethpage) provided the run support Brockport (14-3-1 overall, 5-1 SUNYAC) needed going 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Sophomore Nikki Odrobina (Depew, NY/Maryvale) finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. In the fifth inning Odrobina stole second before she was knocked in by a hit from Trugman.

In the second game, the Golden Eagles used the 10-run rule to defeat the Blue Devils 13-3. Odrobina finished that game 2-for-2 with two runs scored and another stolen base and Trugman 2-for-3 with one triple, two runs scored, a run batted in and a stolen base.

Gabor broke open a close game with her first home run of the season to stake Brockport to a 4-1 advantage.

Junior Kelly Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) earned the win with five innings pitched, giving up just two earned runs in the process.
