Senior Rachel Maxon (Kendall, NY/Kendall) was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored in a 3-0 victory over St. John Fisher College Thursday in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader at the Clark V. Whited Complex in Brockport. The Cardinals won a 4-2 decision in the opener as the teams split the doubleheader.

Brockport (17-4-1) fell behind 3-0 in game one when St. John Fisher (15-5) scored three unearned runs as a result of two consecutive infield errors by the Golden Eagles. After the Cardinals added to their lead with another run in the sixth inning, Brockport scored twice in the bottom of the inning to close the gap. In the sixth, Brockport opened the inning with three consecutive singles by Ona Halladay (Palmyra, NY/Our Lady of Mercy), Lindsay Szymanski (Cheektowaga, NY/John F. Kennedy) and Melissa Boyle (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic). Hollie Ary (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) was hit by a pitch to force home the first run and then pinch-hitter Kim Gabor (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the second run of the inning.

In game two, Maxon opened with a single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Halladay in the first inning to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead. In the third inning, Maxon led off with a double to the centerfield fence and scored on another Halladay sacrifice fly before Boyle doubled home Tarah Wetherby (Olean, NY/Olean) for a 3-0 Brockport lead. Kelly Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) kept St. John Fisher off the board, allowing four hits while striking out three for her seventh victory of the season and her fourth shutout win.
