Senior Rachel Maxon (Kendall, NY/Kendall) was 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple and a home run to hit for the cycle and lead The College at Brockport Softball team to an 8-0 victory over SUNY Morrisville Friday in game one of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader in Morrisville. The Golden Eagles needed just six innings for the opening victory and won a 10-0 five-inning game in the nightcap.

Brockport (19-4-1 overall, 9-1 SUNYAC) scored five times in the first three innings of game one and added three runs in the sixth to close out the victory. In game two, the Golden Eagles scored all 10 runs in the first two innings with four in the first and six in the second for a five-inning win.

Maxon had the hot bat all day, going 2-for-3 at the plate in game two after her perfect 4-for-4 performance in the opener. The senior shotstop doubled to lead off the game and then homered in the first at-bat of the third inning. In the fifth, Maxon singled and in the sixth, hit a two-run triple to complete the cycle.

Melissa Boyle (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and Kristina Wood (White Lake, NY/Pine Bush) each had a pair of hits in the first game. Wood added two more hits in the second game while Tarah Wetherby (Olean, NY/Olean), Lindsay Szymanski (Cheektowaga, NY/John F. Kennedy) and Amanda Smith (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) had two hits each for the Golden Eagles. Smith hit her first home run of the season in the victory.

Kelly Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) tossed the six-inning shutout victory with eight strikeouts and Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) threw the five-inning shutout victory with six strikeouts for the Golden Eagles.
