Whited Complex in Brockport. The Golden Eagles completed the sweep with a 9-0 shutout in five innings over the Lakers.
The victories give Brockport (23-6-1 overall, 12-2 SUNYAC) 24 points in the SUNYAC standings, clinching one of the six tournament seeds for the Golden Eagles in the conference tournament that begins May 1.
In game one, Oswego (7-15, 2-10) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning despite Geer recording strikeouts in 10 of the first 12 outs of the game. In the sixth inning, after Geer worked her way out of a jam with runners on second and third and one out by inducing a pop out and throwing a strikeout, the Golden Eagles finally got on the board. Lindsay Szymanski (Cheektowaga, NY/John F. Kennedy) stroked a one-out single before Melissa Boyle (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) followed with a single to center field. A fielding error allowed Boyle to advance all the way to third and Szymanski scored on the error. Kristina Wood (White Lake, NY/Pine Bush) singled with a hard grounder to third base, allowing Boyle to score the go-ahead run as the throw to the plate was high and nearly over the head of the catcher.
Wood, Szymanski and Boyle, along with Tarah Wetherby (Olean, NY/Olean), each had two hits in the game.
In game two, Brockport scored four times in the second inning, once in the fourth and ended the game with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth as the Golden Eagles won by virtue of the run rule.
In the second inning, Brockport scored four runs with six hits and one fielding error as the Golden Eagles batted around the order and left the bases loaded. In the fourth, Ona Halladay (Palmyra, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and Szymanski hit back-to-back two-out doubles to put Brockport up 5-0.
The Golden Eagles ended the game in the fifth inning when the Lakers committed two fielding errors and Szymanski eventually delivered a bases-loaded double that scored two runners and pushed the lead to 9-0, ending the game with two outs due to the eight-run rule.
In game two, Szymanski and Halladay were both 3-for-4 with Szymanski driving home three runs and Wood was 2-for-3.
Kelly Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) allowed just three hits and struck out three batters for her 10th win of the season and seventh shutout victory.
