Rachel Maxon Earns Academic All-American Award
Senior stars on and off the field for Brockport Softball May 18, 2009
 Rachel Maxon earns National academic award(credit: Michael Pratt, MLPhoto) Senior Rachel Maxon (Kendall, NY/Kendall) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American team as a second team selection. The award honors the top student-athletes in each sport from across the country as voted on by the Sports Information Directors from all of the colleges and universities in the United States.
Maxon led The College at Brockport Softball team to a 28-13-1 record and broke 10 different career records in the process. The senior shortstop set new school records for career games played, hits, runs, doubles and runs batted in. Maxon finished the season leading the team with 37 runs scored, 55 hits, 12 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. She earned All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a second-team selection.
Off the field, Maxon earned high marks in the classroom as she achieved over a 3.70 grade point average majoring in Criminal Justice as well as Physical Education with a minor in Coaching. Maxon was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Collegiate Athletic Honor Society and also earned admission into the Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society for Criminal Justice.
