Divers lead Swimming & Diving to Open New Year
Dan Brigano and Maria Quagliana each won a pair of diving events

Junior Dan Brigano (Utica, NY/Proctor) and sophomore Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) each won a pair of diving events to lead The College at Brockport Swimming & Diving team against Monroe Community College. The Golden Eagles split the night with the men’s team winning by a score of 126-108 and the women’s team falling by a score of 121-116 Thursday evening at Monroe Community College.

Brigano won each of his diving events winning the one-meter competition with a score of 229.60 after winning the three-meter event with a score of 239.05 to lead the Golden Eagles.

Quagliana also won each of her two diving events, winning the one-meter diving with a score of 223.25 and also the three-meter diving event with a score of 234.70.

Freshman Chris O’Connell (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.50 while junior Jen Conklin (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) accomplished the same feat for the women with a time of 1:16.35. Junior Nathan Butler (Camilus, NY/West Genesee) also had a strong showing while winning the men’s 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.31.
