 Dan Brigano posts another NCAA qualifying score in one-meter diving(credit: Michael Pratt, MLPhoto) Junior Dan Brigano (Utica, NY/Utica-Proctor) scored a 426.8 in 11 dives in the one-meter diving competition, clearing the NCAA provisional-qualifying standard for the second time this season, as The College at Brockport Swimming & Diving squads split a dual against SUNY Oneonta Friday night in Oneonta.
The Brockport men (5-3) posted a 130-109 victory while the women (3-5) dropped a 148-95 decision to the Red Dragons.
Senior Catie Swartz (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and freshman Cody Burns (King Ferry, NY/Southern Cayuga) each won the 50-yard freestyle sprint with Swatrz clocking a :26.58 while Burns finished with a :23.18. Burns also swam the anchor leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay as Brockport posted a winning time of 1:33.64.
Freshman Steve Brown (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) posted his first career victory by turning in the fastest time in the 1,000-yard freestyle. His 11:05.37 shaved nearly 15 seconds off his previous season-best time.
Other winners for Brockport included sophomore Rob Cornish (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) with a win in the 500-yard freestyle, Chris O’Connell (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Nathan Butler (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) in the 100-yard backstroke for the men. Meanwhile Jen Conklin (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) won the 200-yard individual medley, Nicole Morgan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) took first in the 500-yard freestyle and Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) won the one-meter diving competition on the women's side.
