Maria Quagliana Takes Third in Three-Meter Diving
Three school records set at SUNYAC Championships on day one

Sophomore Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) established a new school record in the three-meter diving competition with a 435.60 in the preliminary round of diving at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships Thursday at Erie Community College in Buffalo. Quagliana scored a 396.75 in the finals to place third in the event.

Senior Catie Swartz (Auburn, NY/Auburn) broke the school record in the women’s 50-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 25.37 which was good enough to place her 12th in the competition. Swartz also swam the anchor leg in the 200-meter freestyle relay as Brockport took eighth with a time of 1:43.91. The relay broke the school record in the preliminary round with a time of 1:43.34. The relay was made up of junior Jen Conklin (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen), sophomore Karin Davis (Castile, NY/Letchworth), sophomore Nicole Morgan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and Swartz.

The men’s 200-yard free relay with Jeff Palumbo (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), Cody Burns (King Ferry, NY/Southern Cayuga), Josh Atzrott (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland) and Vince Lossowski (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) finished seventh. Palumbo was also 15th in the 50-yard freestyle while Burns anchored the 400-yard medley relay with Nate Butler (Camillius, NY/West Genesee), Chris O’Connell (Hillbrook, NY/Sachem North) and Wells Crawley (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) that finished in sixth place.
