Swimming & Diving Teams Take 6th and 7th at SUNYACs
Men finish 6th and Women take 7th at conference championships

Senior freestyler Catie Swartz (Auburn, NY/Auburn) finished strong with a school record in the 100-yard freestyle and junior Nathan Butler (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) scored a top-8 finish in the 100-yard backstroke to lead The College at Brockport Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving team to a 6th and 7th place finish respectively at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships Saturday at Erie Community College in Buffalo.

The Brockport men finished with 189 points, six points ahead of SUNY Oneonta for the 6th position while the Brockport Women scored 154 points for seventh place.

Swartz finished 11th in the 100 freestyle finals with her school-record time of 55:25 after qualifying with a time of 55.90 to reach the final round. The senior was also a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay that took 6th place for the Golden Eagles. Swartz swam the lead leg of the relay followed by Jen Conklin (Watkins, Glen, NY/Watkins Glen), Ellen Reynolds (Albion, NY/Albion) and Nicole Morgan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island). Morgan also placed 13th in the 100-yard backstroke and 14th in the 200-yard backstroke on the final two days of competition.

Senior Lisa Palmieri (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) wrapped up her Brockport career with a personal best in the 1650-freestyle race with a time of 20:01.17 for the Golden Eagles.

Butler took 8th place in the 100-yard backstroke after finishing 14th in the 200-yard back for Brockport on Friday. Butler also swan a leg of the 6th place 800-yard freestyle relay with Josh Atzrott (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland), Rob Cornish (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and Vince Lossowski (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport). Cornish was also ninth in the 1650 with a time of 17:03.05.
