Swimming & Diving Splits with Nazareth in Home Opener
Rob Cornish wins two freestyle races to lead Golden Eagle Men November 6, 2009 Junior Rob Cornish (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) won both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events to lead The College at Brockport Men’s Swimming & Diving team to a home-opening victory over Nazareth College Friday afternoon at the James B. Fulton Natatorium in Brockport. The Brockport women fell to Nazareth.
Brockport won a 131-93 decision in the men’s competition and dropped a 156-75 score on the women’s side.
Cornish won the 200 in 1:53.65 and took the 500 with a time of 5:08.69. Senior Dan Brigano (Utica, NY/Utica-Proctor) won both the one- and three-meter diving events for Brockport, scoring a 248.65 in the one-meter competition and a 219.18 on the three-meter board. Senior Nathan Butler (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) posted a victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a winning time of 56.62 seconds.
For the women, junior Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) won both diving events with scores of 231.10 and 234.75 in the one- and three-meter events, respectively. Freshman Eva Lankes (Amherst, NY/Amherst) won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.04 and junior Nicole Morgan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) won the 500 freestyle in 5:49.89.
