Tennis Falls in Heartbreaker against Alfred University
Golden Eagles lose 5-4 decision to Saxons in season opener

Sophomore Kaitlyn Broderick (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) lost a hard-fought three-set match at third singles in the deciding match of a 5-4 loss to Alfred University Saturday in the season opener for the Golden Eagles in Brockport.

Broderick won the opening set, 7-6, before dropping a 7-5 decision in the second set and then surrendering a 6-4 loss in the third set. Brockport (0-1) had pulled even at 4-4 with singles victories by Erin McLaughlin (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) at No. 2, Carolyn McMeneman (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) at No. 5 and Kelsey Spinks (Hammondsport, NY/Hammondsport) at No. 6 for the Golden Eagles.

Alfred (2-0) won two of the three doubles matches and won both the first and fourth singles matches.
