Tennis Upended at SUNYAC Pool Play
Keller and McLaughlin post wins for Golden Eagles

The women’s tennis team competed in SUNYAC Pool Play this past weekend held in Syracuse and Binghamton.

The Golden Eagles faced New Paltz on Friday September 11 and fell to the Hawks 8-1. The College at Brockport’s lone win of the day came at third doubles. Seniors Erin McLaughlin (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and Katie Keller (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) teamed up for an 8-4 victory.

Brockport faced Plattsburgh on September 12th and lost a 6-3 decision to the Cardinals. McLaughlin and Keller teamed up for a win at third doubles and each earned a singles victory. The two combined for an 8-1 decision at doubles and improve to 3-0 as partners on the season. McLaughlin won the second flight 7-6, 6-4 and Keller took fourth singles 6-0, 6-2.

The Golden Eagles competed against Oneonta Saturday afternoon in Binghamton and lost, 9-0. Carolyn McMeneman (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) posted the closest score at No. 4 singles of 6-3, 6-2.

Brockport completed pool play action against Cortland on Sunday and were shut out 9-0 by the Red Dragons. Keller and Katelyn Richenberg (Stafford, NY/Batavia) gave Brockport the best chance of the day, but lost a hard fought set at second doubles, 9-7.

The tennis team returns to the courts on Thursday, September 17th when they travel to Keuka for a 4pm match.
