Volleyball Wins Two in Utica

Junior Heather Carroll (Windsor, NY/Windsor) recorded a team-high 12 kills and eight digs as The College at Brockport Volleyball team completed a two-match sweep of Utica area colleges on the first day of competition at the SUNYIT Invitational Tournament. The Golden Eagles (2-1) defeated Utica College in three games and then downed host SUNYIT in four games Friday evening in Utica.

The 3-0 victory over Utica College was the 200th career win for head coach John Tuttle in his Brockport coaching career. The two victories bring his career record for the Golden Eagles to 201-130 as Tuttle begins his 11th season.

Brockport won the first match against Utica College by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-16 and then rebounded from a 25-21 loss in game one against SUNYIT to win the next three games by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-10 for the 3-1 win.

Against Utica College, Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown) led the team with nine kills while fellow senior Amanda Yachetta (Falconer, NY/Falconer) handed out 28 assists and freshman Alex Stribing (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led the Golden Eagles with 10 digs.
Against SUNYIT, Carroll led the team in three categories with 12 kills, eight digs and three aces while Fitchette added 12 kills, Yachetta dished out 29 assists and freshman Aubrey Smith (Bath, NY/Hammondsport) recorded eight digs.
