Volleyball Splits Games on Final Day of SUNYIT Tournament

Junior Melissa Maxwell (Batavia, NY/Batavia) recorded 16 digs in two matches as The College at Brockport Volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of competition at the SUNYIT Invitational Tournament Saturday in Utica.

Maxwell led the Golden Eagles (3-2) with nine digs in a 3-0 victory over SUNYIT as the Golden Eagles posted the win by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-23. The win made up for an earlier loss to Utica College in five games. Brockport won the first two games over the Pioneers by scores of 25-18 and 25-7, but dropped the next two games by scores of 25-22 and 25-18 before losing the tie breaker game, 15-12.

Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown) had eight kills against SUNYIT and led the team with five blocks against Utica College. Amanda Yachetta (Falconer, NY/Falconer) had 46 assists in the combined matches while Kristi Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led the team with 13 kills against Utica College. Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) had six aces and Heather Carroll (Windsor, NY/Windsor) added five aces against SUNYIT.
