Senior Amanda Yachetta (Falconer, NY/Falconer) established a new career-high with 44 assists in a 3-1 victory over SUNY Oneonta Saturday as The College at Brockport Volleyball team won one of four matches over the weekend at the Bomber Invitational Tournament at Ithaca College.

Brockport dropped a pair of matches Friday afternoon, losing a 3-1 decision to St. John Fisher and a 3-2 decision to RIT. On Saturday, Brockport (4-5) upended SUNY Oneonta in four games before dropping a 3-0 decision to Widener University in the afternoon.

St. John Fisher won by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-20 in the first match Friday. Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown) led the way with 10 kills and Melissa Maxwell (Batavia, NY/Batavia) registered 14 digs.

Against RIT, Brockport dropped the first two games 25-16 and 25-19 before rebounding for a 26-24 win and a 25-21 victory to force a fifth game, but RIT scored a 15-12 win for the 3-2 match victory. Fitchette and Heather Carroll (Windsor, NY/Windsor) each had nine kills while Maxwell led the team with 16 digs and Carroll added 12 digs for Brockport.

On Saturday, Brockport split the first two games against SUNY Oneonta by identical 25-21 scores before winning games three and four with wins of 25-21 and 25-23 for the 3-1 victory. Yachetta handed out 44 assists and Fitchette registered 18 kills. Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) had 14 kills and Alex Stribing (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led the team with nine digs. The 14 kills for Nowak and 18 kills for Fitchette were both individual season highs.

Against Widener, Brockport lost in three games by scores of 25-10, 25-20, and 25-20. Maxwell recorded 14 digs to finish the weekend with her best three dig matches of the season after recording 30 in Friday’s combined matches and adding the 14 against Widener.
