Volleyball Earns SUNYAC Postseason Berth

The College at Brockport women’s volleyball team clinched the second seed in the West Division of Pool Play with a 6-2 record. The Golden Eagles went undefeated in the first round (4-0) and split (2-2) last weekend.

Brockport (17-14) will face SUNY Oneonta (16-16), the No. 3 seed from the East Division, at 2pm on Thursday Nov. 5 at SUNY New Paltz.
Brockport defeated Oneonta earlier this season on Sept. 12 at the Ithaca Invitational 3-1. The Golden Eagles are 22-2 all-time against the Red Dragons.

Senior Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown) leads the Golden Eagles with 3.5 kills and .85 blocks per game. Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) has added 2.05 kills per game and leads the team with 58 aces. Senior Amanda Yachetta (Falconer, NY/Falconer) has dished out a 8.07 assists per set and Melissa Maxwell (Batavia, NY/Batavia) is collecting 3.07 digs per game.

Both teams have final non-conference tune-ups before the tournament begins. Brockport plays at the NY Regional Challenge held in Ithaca against Nazareth and St. Lawrence on Oct. 31st and SUNY Oneonta will travel to Union on Nov. 3.

The winner of the Brockport/Oneonta game will advance to play top-seeded SUNY New Paltz (26-5) in the semifinals on Fri., Nov. 6 at 3p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the gate for $5 for the general public and $2 for students with valid ID. No complimentary tickets will be issued.
