Senior Jen Buskus (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and junior Whitney Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored 12 points each to lead The College at Brockport Women’s Basketball team to a 59-41 victory over SUNY Geneseo in the regular-season finale in a State University of New York Athletic Conference game (SUNYAC) Saturday at Brockport.

Brockport (16-9 overall, 11-5 SUNYAC) secured the No. 4 spot in the final SUNYAC standings and will host SUNY Oswego at 7 pm Tuesday in the first round of the SUNAYC Tournament. The Golden Eagles defeated Oswego in their two earlier meetings this season.

The Golden Eagles led by nine at the halftime intermission and opened the second half on a 13-4 run to take control of the contest with an 18-point lead before cruising to the victory. Brockport finished the day with 40 percent shooting from the field and connected on 43% of its shots in the second half. Geneseo (8-17, 5-11) managed to convert on just 27% of its shots and missed 9-of-15 free throws in the game.

Following Smith and Buskus, senior Kiomi Matthews (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) added 11 points while senior Brenlyn Campbell (Williamsville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
