Women’s Basketball Pulls Away from Oswego
Golden Eagles advance in SUNYAC Tournament to face SUNY Oneonta

Senior Brenlyn Campbell (Williamsville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) scored 19 points while fellow senior Jen Buskus (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and freshman Rachel Csakany (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) each scored 13 points to lead The College at Brockport Women’s Basketball team to a 66-43 victory over SUNY Oswego in the first round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament Tuesday night at Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport.

Brockport (17-9) advances to play No. 3 SUNY Oneonta, a 46-39 winner over SUNY Plattsburgh on Tuesday. Top-seeded SUNY Cortland advanced easily with a 72-41 win over SUNY Geneseo and will play No. 7 SUNY Potsdam after the Bears upset No. 2 SUNY New Paltz 62-61 in New Paltz. Brockport will play Oneonta at 6 pm and Cortland will host Potsdam at 8 pm on Friday in Cortland. The semi-final winners will meet at 4 pm Saturday in Cortland for the SUNYAC Championship.

Against Oswego, Campbell scored 12 of her 19 points in the first half to give Brockport a 25-16 advantage at the halftime intermission. In the second half, the Golden Eagles scored 41 points, hitting over 50 percent of their shots from the field to pull away from the Lakers.

Campbell added 10 rebounds while senior Molly Brewer (Lockport, NY/Lockport) chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds for Brockport. Buskus added five assists and senior Kiomi Matthews (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) had five steals.
