Women’s Lacrosse Drops Opener to St. Lawrence

Junior Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) scored four goals and freshman Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) scored twice but The College at Brockport Women’s Lacrosse team dropped a 13-8 decision to St. Lawrence University Tuesday in the season-opener in West Palm Beach, Florida, as part of the annual spring break trip.

Brockport (0-1) scored the first four goals of the game with Piraino, Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), Hill and Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) each scoring in the first 12 minutes of the contest. St. Lawrence (2-1) scored its first goal of the game with 16:47 to play in the opening half, but Brockport responded 20 seconds later to took a 5-1 lead as Piraino notched her second goal of the game.

The Saints scored nine consecutive goals with three before the end of the first half to cut the lead to 5-4 and six straight goals to open the second half taking a 10-5 lead. The teams exchanged goals over the final 12 minutes of the contest with Hill scoring all three for Brockport.

Jamie Kaminski (Oakdadle, NY/Sayville) made 13 saves in the Brockport goal.
