Freshman Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored for The College at Brockport Women’s Lacrosse team with 1:29 left in the second half to tie the game at 14-14 but Buffalo State advanced the ball into the Brockport zone and scored with 29 seconds remaining for the one-goal victory Tuesday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Buffalo.

Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) led the Golden Eagles (0-6 overall, 0-1 SUNYAC) with five goals and two assists while freshmen Motondo, Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, Henninger) and Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) each added two goals for Brockport.

Brockport led 2-0 with quick goals by Hill and Amanda Massmann (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) in the first two minutes of action. Buffalo State (7-1, 1-0) used a four-goal spurt near the end of the half to forge ahead 9-6 at the halftime break.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles scored four of the first five goals in the period to regain the lead at 11-10 with less than 20 minutes to play. The teams traded goals down the stretch as the Bengals escaped with the narrow victory.

Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored a goal and added an assist as she moved into a tie for third place on the all-time Brockport list for career points. She now has 170 and is tied for third with Rebecca Tucker, who scored 170 points from 1995-98 for the Golden Eagles.
