Freshman Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored three times in the final 15 minutes of the game for The College at Brockport Women’s Lacrosse team but SUNY Cortland had built an early lead and cruised to a 15-7 victory Tuesday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Cortland.

Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) scored the first goal of the game to give Brockport (0-7 overall, 0-2 SUNYAC) an early 1-0 lead. Cortland (6-4, 2-0) answered with six straight goals and the Red Dragons, ranked #17 in the nation, led 7-2 at the halftime intermission.

Cortland scored five of the first six goals in the second half to extend the lead to 13-3 before Motondo and the Golden Eagles started a comeback. The sophomore attack scored twice on free position shots and then added her third goal of the game with 49 seconds remaining in the game.

Motondo finished with three goals and two assists while Hill added two goals and an assist. Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) and Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) each added a goal for the Golden Eagles. Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) had one assist and sophomore goalie Jamie Kaminsky (Oakdale, NY/Sayville) made 12 saves for Brockport.
