Women's Lacrosse Ties a School Record with 23 Goals
Golden Eagles earn first victory of the season against Morrisville April 9, 2009
 Dayna Piraino leads Golden Eagles with six goals(credit: Kelly Vegin) Freshman Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) scored six goals and freshman Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added five to lead The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team to its first victory of the season with a school-record tying 23 goals in a 23-6 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over SUNY Morrisville Thursday. The game was played at Chittenango High School due to unplayable field conditions at Morrisville.
Brockport (1-7 overall, 1-2 SUNYAC) scored seven of the first eight goals to take the early lead and led 8-2 after the first half of play. Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored her third goal of the game with 11:50 left in the second half to give Brockport a 16-6 lead and the Golden Eagles added seven goals in the closing minutes with running time. Motondo netted three goals down the stretch and Piraino chipped in two of the final seven goals.
The 23 goals ties a school record for goals in a game set in 2004 against Worcester State.
Decker finished with three goals and three assists while Piraino added an assist to her six goals and Motondo had three assists for a team-leading eight points on the day. Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) contributed four goals, while Lindsey Cayea (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and Alyssa Case (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) each scored twice. Cayea added two assists and Marlise Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) scored a goal for the Golden Eagles.
Sophomore Jamie Kaminsky (Oakdale, NY/Sayville) made 12 saves for Brockport.
