Women's Lacrosse Falls Behind Early but Battles Back

Freshman Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored four goals and handed out three assists while Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) added four goals but The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 16-13 decision to SUNY Oneonta Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Oneonta.

Oneonta (8-4 overall, 5-1 SUNYAC) scored the first six goals of the game and led 9-1 with less than four minutes to play in the first half before Brockport (3-8, 3-3) started to come from behind and close the gap.

The Golden Eagles scored the last three goals of the first half and trailed 9-4 at the intermission. After the Red Dragons scored the first three goals of the second half for a 12-4 lead, Brockport rattled off nine of the next 11 goals to close to within a single goal at 14-13 with 4:26 left to play.

Oneonta scored with 2:10 remaining to regain a two-goal cushion and then added a late goal for the final margin.

Motondo and Decker each had four goals while Cally Weddle (Homer, NY/Homer) added two goals and Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NYHenninger) and Alyssa Case (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) each scored once. Piraino added two assists and Lindsey Cayea (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added one assist. Jamie Kaminsky (Oakdale, NY/Sayville) made 13 saves.
