Junior Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) scored four goals and assisted on another to help The College at Brockport Women’s Lacrosse team win a 13-8 decision over SUNY Potsdam in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup Saturday in Brockport.

SUNY Potsdam (7-7 overall, 2-6 SUNYAC) came out strong, taking an early 3-1 advantage before Hill evened the score with two straight goals to spark a six-goal rally and give the Golden Eagles (4-9, 4-4) a 6-3 lead at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Brockport extended the lead to 7-3 before the Bears started to come back with three of the next four goals to cut the lead to 8-6. Cally Weddle (Homer, NY/Homer) scored twice in less than a minute to give Brockport a 10-6 lead.

After Potsdam scored to cut the lead to 10-7, Brockport put the game away with three straight goals. Lindsey Cayea (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/ Penn Yan) and Hill all found the net for the Golden Eagles.

Decker and Weddle each chipped in three goals while freshman Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) assisted on three goals. Cayea, freshmen Alyssa Case (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) each scored goals for Brockport.

Sophomore goalie Jamie Kaminsky (Oakdale, NY/Sayville) made six saves for her 18th career victory.
