Graduate student Julia Decker (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored a career-high seven goals and eclipsed the 200 career-point milestone in leading The College at Brockport Women’s Lacrosse team to a 19-16 victory over SUNY Oswego in the final game of the season Tuesday in Brockport.

Decker scored five times in the second half as Brockport (5-9 overall, 5-4 SUNYAC) broke open a close game with a four-goal spurt midway through the second half. Decker scored twice in the key run for the Golden Eagles with a pair of goals within 40 seconds of each other with just under 20 minutes to play. The scoring spurt turned an 8-8 deadlock into a 12-8 Brockport lead with 17:55 to play. After Oswego (9-8, 3-6) scored to stop the run, Brockport scored three of the next four goals for a 15-10 advantage.

Oswego cut the lead to 15-12 with seven minutes remaining before Brockport scored three of the next four again to extend the lead back to five goals at 18-13, the last goal coming on Decker’s seventh of the game.

Decker finished with seven goals and one assist while freshman Carly Motondo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added two goals and six assists and tied Decker for the team lead with eight points in the game. Melissa Hill (Rochester, NY/Brighton) scored four times while Cally Weddle (Homer, NY/Homer) added three goals and Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) chipped in two goals and three assists. Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored a goal and Lindsey Cayea (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) handed out two assists for the Golden Eagles.

Decker eclipsed the 200 career-point milestone in the second half and becomes just the second player in school history to clear the plateau. The graduate student, who was overcome with emotion during the pregame announcements, wraps up her career as the No. 2 all-time goal scorer and is No. 2 on the all-time points list at the College.
