Linda Michele Named Women’s Lacrosse Coach
East Rochester coaching legend takes over Golden Eagle program September 4, 2009
 Women's Lacrosse names new head coach East Rochester coaching legend, Linda Michele, has been hired as the head women’s lacrosse coach at The College at Brockport as announced by Director of Athletics Lin Case.
The 2008 inductee into The Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse Hall of Fame comes to Brockport after building one of the elite high school girls’ programs in the state with the East Rochester Bombers. In her 13 years with the program, she posted a record of 160-40 with four Section V Championships and three appearances in the New York State Finals.
“We are very excited to have a coach as much experience as Linda on our staff,” said Director of Athletics Lin Case. “Women’s lacrosse has developed into a successful program at Brockport and I am confident that Linda will continue that success both on and off the field.”
Prior to East Rochester she coached varsity lacrosse at the Albany Girls Academy from 1992-95 and finished with a record of 78-14 after leading the team to two regional championships, three sectional championships and was a NYS Finalist in 1995.
In 2001, Michele started Lady Roc Elite Women’s Lacrosse which aids in the recruiting process for area high school players. Michele has served as the USWLA and US Lacrosse NYS high school coaches Division Regional Director for 12 years, the US Lacrosse National Tournament Elite Coach 13 times and spent two years as the US Lacrosse National Youth Festival Rochester Coach. She has also been the Empire State Games Western coach four times.
In addition to her impressive lacrosse coaching records, she amassed a record of 185-28-12 as the varsity field hockey coach at East Rochester from 1999-2008 where she guided the Bombers to three state championships, including the Class C crown in 2008 and back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005. Michele ended her field hockey coaching career with a current 94-game unbeaten streak against Section V teams.
Outside of coaching, she has been a Physical Education and Health Instructor at East Rochester since 1995, and prior to that she was the Director of Physical Education at Albany Academy for ten years.
A native of East Rochester, Michele earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland in 1982 and a master’s in Health Education from Russell Sage College in 1992.
