The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team earned a spot in the 2008 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) final national poll. The Golden Eagles, who finished the season with a school-record 14 victories, are listed among the schools also receiving votes in the poll.

Brockport (14-4) finished the record-breaking season with a dominating 21-9 victory over St. John Fisher College to capture the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate New York Tournament championship. The team also scored a school-record 288 goals including seven games with at least 20 goals. Of the four losses by the Golden Eagles, three were by a single goal and the other was a two-goal loss in overtime. Three of the four losses came against opponents ranked in the final poll with two coming against SUNY Cortland who finished the season ranked No. 13. The other ranked opponent of the Golden Eagles was William Smith College who edged Brockport in an 11-10 game in Florida in the second game of the season.

Hamilton College was the top ranked team in the final poll after winning the NCAA Division III National Championship. Franklin & Marshall was No. 2 followed by Salisbury University, The College of New Jersey and Union College rounding out the top-5. Four schools from New York State were ranked in the final top-20 poll and Brockport was the second ranked State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) school in the poll with SUNY Cortland and was also the second ranked Rochester-area school in the poll after William Smith.
