The College at Brockport Women’s Soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to five games with a 3-1 win over SUNY Geneseo Saturday afternoon on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field in Brockport for the SUNYAC opener.

Junior Abby Smith (Mexico, NY/Mexico) scored her third goal of the season at 14:50 off a corner kick by Rachel Murphy (Pittsford, Ny/Pittsford-Sutherland). Murphy fed the ball from the right corner and found Smith on the back post to head the ball into the left side of the net.

Senior Nicole Gibaud (Rochester, NY/Greece-Arcadia) gave Brockport a 2-0 lead with under five minutes to play in the first half. Gibaud kicked the ball off the end line and the ball redirected into the right side of the net.

Leading 2-0 at the half, the Golden Eagles extended the lead at 49:35 when junior Jess Bush (Dryden, NY/Dryden) blasted a shot from 10 yards out for her first goal of the season.

Geneseo cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 66th minute when Eileen Coyle converted a penalty shot.

The Knights had two chances to score in the last five minutes when Stephanie Verdino's shot hit off the crossbar and Melissa Beale was denied by Brockport keeper Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer).

Brockport was outshot 18-9 on the day and only took five corners, compared to ten by the Knights.

Golden Eagle goalie Erin Asquith posted a season-high 10 saves in net as Brockport improves to 4-1-1 on the season and starts 1-0 in conference play. The Golden Eagles travel on the road for their first away games of the season next weekend when they head to Plattsburgh and Potsdam.
