Women’s Soccer Ties SUNY Plattsburgh in SUNYAC Opener

Senior Jessica VanAllen (Chatham, NY/Chatham) scored in the 17th minute for The College at Brockport Women’s Soccer team to tie the score at 1-1 with SUNY Plattsburgh. The two teams remained tied through regulation time and two overtime periods for a tie in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener for both teams Friday afternoon in Plattsburgh.

The Golden Eagles (4-1-2 overall, 1-0-1) won a 4-2 decision in the shootout that will be used by the SUNYAC as a tie-breaker if needed at the end of the season.

Abby Smith (Mexico, NY/Mexico), Nicole Gibaud (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), Arielle Schneider (Plainview, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage) and Rachel Murphy (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) each scored penalty shots for Brockport in the shootout.

Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) made nine saves for Brockport. The Golden Eagles extended their unbeaten streak to six games after losing the season opener.
