Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
Gregorski headed the ball into the lower right corner at 11:32 off a pass from the right side from Jessica VanAllen (Chatham, NY/Chatham). Three minutes later VanAllen had an opportunity to extend the lead but her shot was cleared off the goal line by New Paltz’s Emily Buckner en route to the 1-0 halftime lead.
Four minutes into the second half, VanAllen blasted a shot on which New Paltz keeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, NY/Baldwin) made a diving save and knocked the ball away. However, junior Jessica Bush (Dryden, NY/Dryden) picked up the carom and ripped a shot from eight yards out into the net for a 2-0 lead.
New Paltz had an opportunity in the 65th minute when Patti Bowling crossed the ball from the left side and the ball rolled across the front of the goal but the Hawks were unable to capitalize.
With two minutes remaining, Gregorski passed to Kaila Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) and Vega came up with another save to keep the score 2-0.
Brockport’s Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) and the Golden Eagle defense held New Paltz to three shots for its fourth shutout of the season. Vega finished with 12 saves for the Hawks.
Brockport will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, October 3, when the team hosts SUNY Oneonta at 1 p.m.
