Five First-Half Goals Spark Women’s Soccer Romp
Brooke Greer scores twice for the Golden Eagles in regular season finale
October 27, 2009
Freshman Brooke Greer (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) scored two goals to lead The College at Brockport Women’s Soccer team to a 6-0 victory over SUNY Cobleskill in the regular season finale and a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon in Cobleskill.

Senior Michelle Gibaud (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) opened the scoring at the 15:21 mark of the first half and 12 minutes later Greer took a pass from Gibaud and scored to give the Golden Eagles (10-3-3) a 2-0 lead.

In the final 10 minutes of the first half, Brockport scored three more goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Junior Ciara Arsenault (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) started the scoring flurry at the 35:38 mark and then assisted on a goal by Amanda White (Fuera Bush, NY/RCS) four minutes later before Greer notched her second goal of the game with less than a minute to play in the half.

Midway through the second half, sophomore Kayln Fries (Bath, NY/Hammondsport) scored an unassisted goal for the final score.

Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) and Renee Lantz (Alden, NY/Akron) each played 45 minutes in goal and combined for five saves and the shutout victory.

The Golden Eagles begin post-season play on Saturday, October 31, as the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland come to town for a SUNYAC Tournament play-in game. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
