Wrestling Handles Oswego with a 28-15 Victory

Seniors Glen DiStefano (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna), Donald Williams (Kendall, NY/Kendall) and Eric VanPatten (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) each won matches for The College at Brockport Wrestling team as the Golden Eagles posted a 28-15 victory over SUNY Oswego Wednesday night in the Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport.

DiStefano won a technical fall victory at 133 pounds with a 16-1 score at the 2:51 mark of the first period. Williams posted an 11-5 decision, controlling the match with four takedowns, and VanPatten posted a 7-1 decision in the 174-pound bout. The match opened at 184 pounds and finished with the Williams match followed by VanPatten’s victory.

Brockport (5-1) opened with a technical-fall victory by Josh Bloom (Manchester, NY/Geneva) at 184 pounds and took a forfeit victory at 197, followed by a 6-3 decision victory by Jabril Patterson (Syracuse, NY/Adirondack) in the 285-pound class to take the early 14-0 lead in the match.

Oswego (2-7) earned a pin in the 125-pound bout before DiStefano scored his technical fall at 133.

The Lakers won at 141 with a fall with less than a minute left in the bout to cut the lead to 19-12 and narrowed the gap further with a 4-1 decision, making the score 19-15 in favor of Brockport.

Brockport won the final three bouts with Mike Cole (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) winning a 4-1 decision at 157 pounds followed by Williams’ decision at 165 and VanPatten’s victory at 174 for the final score.
