Eliah Golding Wins Three in Brockport Wrestling Debut
Golden Eagles freshmen open the 2009-10 season for Brockport

Freshman Eliah Golding (Albany, NY/Colonie) won three matches for The College at Brockport Wrestling team Sunday at the University of Buffalo Open Tournament in Buffalo. It was the first official matches of the season for the Golden Eagles.

Golding, wrestling in the challenging 149-pound weight class dropped his first match of the day with a 13-9 decision to fifth-seeded Shat Shive from Niagara County Community College. He recovered to defeat Ashton Kelchner from Mouth Saint Joseph College 5-0, Seth Elvin from Monroe Community College 7-4 and won by default over Justin Cash from the University of Maryland. Edinboro’s Tim Rich ended the day for Golding one match shy of the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

Five additional wrestlers represented Brockport in the open tournament with freshman Patrick Cost (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) wrestling at 133 pounds, Clay Neivert (Ossining, NY/Ossining) competing at 174 pounds, Luke Pariso (Darien, NY/Attica) at 184 pounds and 285-pound weight class wrestlers Julius Anglickas (Watermill, NY/South Hampton) and Pat Krenz (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon).

Pariso scored a fall in his first match pinning Alex Kriesly from Duquesne in 1:17 but dropped a 3-2 decision to Brian Shaw from Bloomsburg University in the consolation bracket. Neivert also pinned his first opponent with a 2:26 fall over Seth Csaszar from Duquesne. He also won a 2-1 decision over Pat Carter from Mercyhurst in the consolation rounds but fell to Owen Smith from the University of Maryland.

The Golden Eagles will compete in the Eastern Michigan Open November 7 against some of the top Midwestern wrestling teams including most from the Big 10 and return home November 14 for the 11th Annual Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic featuring some of the top NCAA Division I wrestlers in the country.
