Head Coach Brian ColeHead Coach: Brian Cole

Brian Cole was hired as the head men’s and women’s Cross Country and Track and Field coach at The College at Brockport for the 2009–10 season.

Cole comes to Brockport after serving as the assistant track and field coach at Tiffin (OH) University, following an eleven-year stint as the head coach of the Ohio Northern University cross country, track and field teams. He also coached for five years as the Head Coach at Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC.

“We are very pleased to add Brian to our coaching staff,” said Lin Case, Director of Athletics at The College at Brockport. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to the position and has the ability to continue the progress of the track and cross country programs that have garnered national honors here at Brockport.”

In 2009, Cole’s first season at the helm, he guided two runners to All-Region honors in Lauren Mesi and Matt Avery. Mesi also earned All-Conference recognition, SUNYAC Hall of Fame status and qualified for the NCAA Division III national meet where she finished 75th.

Prior to his career at Brockport, Cole has coached three individual National Champions, 52 All-Americans, 153 Conference Champions and 593 All-Conference selections. He has earned 13 Coach of the Year honors and guided six of his teams to Conference Championship titles.

Cole was named the Great Lakes Region Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2006; the Men’s Outdoor Region Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996; and the Men’s Indoor Region Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2008.  He was honored as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year (1998, 2005, and 2006); Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year (2007); and the Men’s Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year (2000 and 2008). Cole’s first coach of the year honor came in 1993 when he was recognized as the Mason-Dixon Conference Indoor Coach of the Year.

Cole has acted as the meet director of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships three times, the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championships twice, and as the meet director of six conference championships. He has been an active member of the Division III Track and Field Coaches Association and most recently served as president from 2004 to 2006.

A native of Tiffin, OH, Cole is a 1991 graduate of Methodist College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and is currently pursuing a MBA with a concentration in sport management.

Assistant Coaches:

Ed Jaskulski

Assistant coach Ed JaskulskiEd Jaskulski enters his fourth year with the track & field program and his first as assistant for the cross country teams. In 2009, Jaskulski was promoted to interim head coach for the Outdoor Track & Field squads and was selected as the SUNYAC Coach of the Year for women's track and field as the Golden Eagles captured thier first SUNYAC title for the women.

As an undergraduate at The College at Brockport, Jaskulski was a captain for the Golden Eagle football team, as well as a shot put and discus thrower for the track and field teams. As a senior, Jaskulski narrowly missed qualifying for the Division III nationals is the shot put.

Jaskulski's biggest contribution will come in the weight room, where he was formerly the program record holder in power lifting (1,735 lbs.). Jaskulski will apply his extensive strength and conditioning knowledge to the development of weight training regimens for the track and field teams.
